Sandburg Castle is one of the most well-defended locations in the city. Controlled by a warlord known simply as Janice, the residents of Sandburg Castle answer only to the Lorekeepers with whom they exchange protection for technology and knowledge. It was the Lorekeepers who helped the Sandburgers set up the wind turbines on the roofs of the towers. Those turbines power the towers at 50% capacity, enough to run the water filtration system, elevators, kitchens and CCTV cameras but not much else. The former loading dock and parking garage have been fortified with gutted cars tipped up on their sides and converted into space for water filtration. What hasn't changed about the Sandburg towers is perhaps more stark. There are still security personnel in the campus police office watching the CCTV, armed and vigilant. Since the main function of the Castle is to provide security, every resident who isn't working on maintenance or in the kitchen is a soldier. The relative strength of the Castle means that it casts a long shadow over the former Murray Hill neighborhood.
